DeMarcus developed a love for music at a very young age.  In his childhood home in Greensburg, KY, DeMarcus listened to his mom sing around the house and dad play the guitar and piano.  During his middle school years, he became the church pianist for the Mt. Union Baptist Church in Allendale, KY.  He served in this position until he started attending Parkway 4 years ago.  In high school, DeMarcus joined a Christian band called Steadfast.  He continues to travel with this ministry, which has changed its name to Incandescence.

DeMarcus teaches special education at Lincoln Trail Elementary School in Elizabethtown, KY.  He received his undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology from Campbellsville University in 2009.  DeMarcus went on to obtain his masters degree from CU in special education in 2012.  While at Campbellsville, DeMarcus played saxophone in the marching, pep, and concert bands all 4 years and served as the field commander of the marching band in 2008 and 2009.  He plans to go back to school in the fall at the University of the Cumberlands to obtain his Rank 1 in administration to become a school principal one day.

DeMarcus is married to Brittany Compton, who is a graduate of the University of Louisville and works as a social worker in Louisville, KY.  Brittany also serves as the Children's Director here at Parkway.  They do not have kids yet, but have been blessed with many "sons" and "daughters" in the youth group at Parkway.
